Sammi Star Show

Date: April 18, 1998
Time: 8 PM
Place: Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, California

After months of waiting and dreaming about Sammi, she finally stepped onto the Shrine Auditorium stage at 8:30 pm that night. She sang the grand opening with Fame Overnight and Everyone is a Superstar.

Sammi said coming to Los Angeles gives her a warm feeling. It was her third time coming to LA. The first time she was a guest singer at the New Talent contest back in 1995. And in 1996, she promoted Hong Kong at Universal Studios, Hollywood.

At the Shrine, the bottom floor was packed with people, and second floor was about 3/4 full. Sammi was surprised that not only her cantonese fans came, but many of her mandarin fans also. Past performers at the Shrine include: Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jackey Cheung, Mavis Fan, Samuel Toi, and William So. In addition, big events such as the Emmy Awards were also held at the Shrine Auditorium. Sammi was very happy to share that stage with such big performers.

Sammi's fan-si also received a calling card as a souvenir. The card was made by one the big sponsors, a cellular and paging company. In addition, the April's edition of Vegas Dream with Sammi on the cover were also distributed.

In the middle segment, Sammi asked for a handsome male volunteer to sing a song with her on stage. And of course, the song had to be Am I Really In Your Heart by Sammi and Andy Hui. The lucky volunteer she chose sounded very, very professional. His voice even surprised Sammi. At first I thought the guy was pre-selected. The next day, I found out he was my friend's cousin's friend's brother. (Very complicated, huh?) Sammi also sang two enligish songs, Woman In Love and That's Why I Go Away.

After that, I gave Sammi my custom made Nike eyebrow teddy bear. She seems to like it a lot, since she noticed that the bear had a Nike eyebrow right away. =) She also sang a few songs with my bear.

Sammi ended the concert at 10:30 pm with Can't Let Go of You. I do hope she comes back to Los Angeles soon, it was a very sad song to end the concert. But I wish her success and will support her always.
